RESCUE WITH PURPOSE
At the Zoology Zone Science Center, our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide lifelong care for reptiles and amphibians while inspiring respect for wildlife and the environment. Many of the animals in our care come from neglect, improper husbandry, or situations where owners were unprepared for the long-term commitment these species require. Through responsible rescue practices and individualized care, we give each animal the opportunity to thrive while using their stories to educate the public about conservation, ethical pet ownership, and the critical roles reptiles and amphibians play in healthy ecosystems.
EDUCATION & CONSERVATION IN ACTION
Education is at the heart of everything we do. By offering hands-on learning experiences, field trips, outreach programs, and animal ambassador encounters, we work to replace fear and misinformation with understanding. Reptiles and amphibians are essential to environmental balance — helping control pest populations and serving as indicators of ecosystem health. Through interactive education, we encourage conservation awareness, environmental responsibility, and informed choices that protect wildlife and their habitats

ACCESSIBLE EDUCATION
The Zoology Zone Science Center was created to be an affordable, accessible place for education and fun right here in West Virginia. Families shouldn’t have to travel states away or spend large amounts of money to experience meaningful wildlife encounters. By keeping admission prices low, prioritizing community outreach, and fostering a welcoming environment for all ages, we aim to strengthen community connections and provide engaging, educational experiences that support lifelong learning. West Virginia deserves enriching, affordable opportunities close to home — and we’re proud to be part of that.
