Barney is our 13 year old African Spurred Tortoise who was rescued from a home in Ohio a few years ago. Barney was purchased as a baby, but got so big, he walked through the walls of their home - so he unfortunately found a new home outside, in Ohio, with the chickens. Barney has some abnormal shell growth, but he is one handsome and now healthy dude! Barney is about 80lbs now and is only about half-way grown!

Herschel is our newest African Spurred Tortoise to call the Zoology Zone Science Center home. Herschel is about 20 years old, over 160lbs, and is still growing! This big boy was rescued by some amazing folks about 7 years ago and spoiled this guy rotten. We were honored that they chose the Zoology Zone to continue his spoiled-ness. These animals can live for more than 80 years, so he will be able to wow guests for generations to come!
